Because they are fully detailed scale replicas of real buildings, my scratch built structures are not suitable to be left outside on a garden line all year round, but they are perfect to use outside for a running session, taking them back in to the shed or garage afterwards as you would with your rolling stock. For an indoor line, of course, they are ideal.

Buildings for a garden line are made in exactly the same way as for an indoor layout, with the same level of detail, but they are mounted on a sturdy plywood base. They are showerproof, and can happily be left outside for days on end in good weather, but ideally they should be brought inside when you are not running the railway.  As with the other scales, interiors can be fully detailed if you wish in which case I make the roof removeable for access.
